Why Flamingos Are Pink, Nature’s Colorful Mystery.

Flamingos are among the most eye catching birds on the planet, known for their long legs, graceful necks, and striking pink feathers. But did you know flamingos aren’t born pink?

These elegant birds get their famous color from their diet. Flamingos feed on algae, crustaceans, and small organisms rich in carotenoids, a natural pigment also found in carrots and sweet potatoes. As their bodies break down these pigments, it gradually turns their feathers pink.

Found in large flocks in saline or alkaline lakes, flamingos are also great social animals and often perform synchronized movements. Their beauty, behavior, and biology make them one of nature’s most fascinating creatures.

Fun Fact: The brighter the flamingo, the healthier it is, so that pink really does glow from the inside out.
