The ostrich, the world’s largest and fastest-running bird, is a common and exciting sight on safaris through Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. Found in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara, these giant flightless birds are hard to miss.

Ostriches live in small groups and often roam the plains alongside zebras and antelopes. Males are easily recognized by their bold black-and-white feathers, while females are more brownish for camouflage.
